I’ve been gone for a few weeks…
Did you miss me? I was gone for a few weeks – behind the Great FireWall of China specifically – and I’m happy to be home and back with you! I had great plans to post updates from abroad. As a perfect example of what happens to plans sometimes; it wasn’t possible, and I just had to relax and enjoy vacation. It was perfect.
Now back to the regularly scheduled “business” programming…
As we enter December and face January, a few things tend to happen:
We review what happened in 2017
We plan for 2018
While January 1 is truly just another day in our lives, the changing calendars and winter introspection is a natural time to review and plan.
I’m not a fan of “New Year’s Resolutions.” I think it’s a set up to fail. By Feb 1, those new gym memberships are already going un-used, the diets are heading out with plans for Valentine’s Day, and the reality of a short month (and for some, the bills left over from Christmas) are hitting the budget hard.
I am a big proponent of “what worked in 2017” and “what are my intentions now” moments – not even really big and eventful sessions of introspection – just a few, well placed questions to contemplate and journal over.
Here are my Big 5 Questions:
What are you most proud of this year?
What worked?
What were your biggest lessons?
What is not completed that you want to continue to work on?
What is your “big thing” for next year? (What would you most like to see happen?)
If you spend one day to consider the answer to each one of these questions, and then take 10 minutes to record your thoughts (journal, talk it out, put it on video…) you will find that you are more prepared to carry momentum through the holiday slow down and hit 2018 running.
Are you interested in carrying some momentum and not losing steam over the next couple of weeks?
Hit me up, and let’s talk.
I’ve got a two week challenge for you in January that is designed to have your business moving forward without a lot of busy work (or an unused gym membership.)
