The news in the US is a rough place right now. Hurricane devastation and massive shootings fill my newsfeed and mind.
It feels like there is so much disconnect and discord in our politics – and thus in our news – that it is hard to sometimes see the humanity underneath all the tragedy.
It was hard to get up and get going after all the news this morning.
And yet, life goes on. Business goes on.
In order to have greater connection, in order to show kindness and care in your life, do something that reaches out to your clients in an extraordinary way this week.
Showing people you care, and are thinking of them is an amazing form of connection. It is soul satisfying – and it is along the path of business growth without the pain.
Ideas to show you are thinking of them:
Send 5 people hand written notes this week. It can be great and favorite customers, someone new that you just met, or even someone who just started working with you. Few things are as welcomed as real mail.
Send a new customer a “welcome” gift: maybe a candle; your favorite essential oil; flowers; a nice card with a beautiful picture. Something in line with the price of the services you are providing and hopefully in line with what you are selling. A dry cleaner once gave me a lint roller and you would have thought they bought me a car for all the celebrating I did!
Call and just leave a message telling them how you are thinking about them WITHOUT a sales pitch or invite. Just “thinking of you and wishing you well.”
Create something seasonal and send it to your list – an acupuncturist sends out seasonal eating recipes that are supportive of well being. It’s something fun and free and not exactly what they do, but it is aligned with health and wellness.
Have an offer to give back. Create an offer to your clients that will have you donate to a relief effort. “If you buy X from me by Friday, Y% will go to [a charity].” It’s a great way for you both to give.
And smile. This week, make an effort to share some smiles along the way in places you wouldn’t normally smile at people. I think we all just need to show a little extra kindness to each other right now.
Be Great,
Jenell
PS – and on that note – this week, in light of the difficulties in Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands, I will be donating 20% of my fees for Freedom Journeys booked this week to relief efforts there, or to the families and victims of the Las Vegas shooting. I will donate to the funds according to the desires of the client on the Journey. Together, we can make a difference.
If you have felt that a freedom session might be for you – if you feel that there is just something in your way of reaching your potential in business and life – then this is the time to find out! Help your life as well as the lives of others.
